It's that time of year again. Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day is today, April 21st and if you love Ben & Jerry's ice cream as much as I do, you might have to travel far to indulge in free. Free Cone Day is Ben & Jerry's way of showing thanks to its customers for over 31 years of support. It's also the time of year that Ben & Jerry's hope that you try a new flavor because it's free today. However, before you take off to your nearest Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Shop, know this first. Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops will open about Noon and the promotion will go on until 8pm today, but before you go make sure that your nearest Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop is participating. Unlike previous years, there are a fair number of Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops that are not participating this year and I have to ask why? Is it the economy or is it a combination of the franchises bottom line that would be affected by the sheer number of people turning out for Free Cone Day and many Scoop Shops, simply can't do it for free?
